10/21/2023 0 Comments Screenflow remove media files![]() Once I have that pinned down it's time to press record. I need to know where I'm going on the screen before I press record because it'd be really obvious if I don't: Let's not do this ok? And that is so distracting for someone who wants to know what to do. The thing is when I'm usually using a piece of software I flick my mouse all over the place. When I started doing this I thought it'd be easy. Screen recording is a skill you have to learn. Now I'm ready to get going with the recording. First I swipe to the desktop, load up Safari, and head to an example article. I want to show the Stale feature off in this GIF. You don't want a newsletter about the next best houseplant to pop up (guilty □♀️□). For this I use a demo account that won't affect anything on our support knowledge base.Īh and I nearly forgot! Make sure you turn any notifications off. I have 10 extensions and it's not super appealing and could distract the viewer.Īnd then I prepare the page I want to record. It works well for me but for recording it's a little cluttered. When I need to record a new GIF I just swipe, select the page, and start recording. Having a separate desktop on my Mac helps me keep things organized. ![]() Now you know there's a junk pile behind every window I have a separate desktop set up on my Mac just for recording GIFs and y'know what? I use the browser to cover up all the crap on my desktop. Ok so if you're a fan of the GIFs in our knowledge base you're gonna be disappointed right now. I have mine set up as a 1080 HD 30 fps file. Preparing for the Recordingįirst things' first. If not you might need to find another piece of software and somehow follow along. So if you're willing-or your boss is willing-to pay the $129 per-user per-version for Screenflow let's move on. This second point is where all the magic comes from. Secondly it comes with video actions which was basically a way to transition zooming and panning quickly. There's two things I like a lot about Screenflow.įirst of all it's easier to use than Adobe Premiere which is a great thing because I get absolutely lost in there. And to be honest I'm not a fan of their per-user per-version license model (I'm too used to SaaS).Īnyway I digress. The real kicker here is that you'll need a Screenflow license before attempting to go any further. Yep that's right.GIFs! Before we go down the rabbit hole of my terrible sense of humor let's move on shall we? Let's talk about Screenflow ![]() I'm going to go from A-Z in this post and just to spice things up a little guess what I'm gonna use to explain it. Take my advice here with a pinch of salt and a generous dollop of customization. I wrangled something together after a while and stuck with the format. I did touch on GIFs in a previous post but that was a long time ago and it wasn't good (bad past me). For years people have asked how we do our fancy GIFs on our knowledge base. I thought it was about time I wrote this article. 10/21/2023 0 Comments Helio gracie rolling![]() It took me a while to really understand the value of just being able to defend myself. For a small guy to survive against a big guy is already a victory." He was saying these things to me all the time, but it took me a while to really appreciate what he was telling me. And this despite the fact that Rorion was telling me, "Jiu-Jitsu is about self-defense. Here I'd watched Royce and Rickson and Rorion just dominate and submit all of these guys, and I thought that was how I needed to be. I couldn't finish this guy, and afterwards I was really frustrated and really disappointed in myself. Everything I tried to do he just clamped down, and I really couldn't do much. And right away he started trying do things to make it where I couldn't do the moves. So finally he'd had enough of me talking and he said, "OK, you think Jiu-Jitsu is so good? Let's see." So we went down to the garage and we started rolling. He was a few years younger than my sister, which made him maybe six years younger than me, and on top of that he probably outweighed me by about 35 or 40 pounds. I was telling him about Jiu-Jitsu and he was interested, but he was also pretty confident of his wrestling. I remember back when I was a blue belt, my sister was dating this guy who'd been a wrestler back in high school. "I do understand, to some extent, guys wanting to go out and be aggressive and have this assertive, imposing style. But that's how it was when I was learning from Rorion, and that's how I still teach. They're showing Jiu-Jitsu, but they're not showing that kind of Jiu-Jitsu. Most places you go people are just showing moves. And I don't know how many guys out there these days are talking about it in those terms. That's what you have to manage with an untrained guy. He's going to try to wrench his way out any way that he can. The assumption is that this guy is going to keep fighting you right up to the bitter end: not with a counter or a defense, but by going crazy. You have to focus on weathering the storm. When you get mounted on a guy like that, you can't rush into things. But the thing is, the average guy you fight out in the street is going to be a lot more like that white belt. It's different from rolling with a blue belt who may be good and fast but who's mostly doing moves that are recognizable as Jiu-Jitsu. What's it like rolling with him? You probably catch him, but up until that point it's kind of crazy, kind of wild and unpredictable. Think about a big, strong white belt on his first day of class. ![]() You mount on an untrained guy in the street and he's going to go crazy. You at least know that he's probably going to do some kind of technique to try to deal with whatever you're doing. It's one thing in a Jiu-Jitsu match or even an MMA match, where the guy's defenses are somewhat predictable. "With so many people today the mentality is to go for the submission all the time. It was a lot of things like that, things that an untrained guy in the street might do and probably would do. You'd go to make the frame on the neck and he'd try to roll you off. Keep your base." He would shake you up, try to throw you off. Make a frame, break the grip, take the arm." Rorion would have us in that situation and he'd tell us, "Maintain the mount. ![]() Nowadays you might have a guy tell you, "When you're mounted on the guy, and he has you in a headlock, go for the armlock. Even the fundamentals were different, because there was this absolute focus on the reality of a street fight. It was different than a lot of what you see in Jiu-Jitsu today. He wasn't saying, "Do this guard and this guard and this guard." He said, "When you get mounted, when you get in a headlock, when you get mounted on top of the guy…" It was the basics. Rorion wanted people to understand what it would be like in the street. "When I was coming up, the emphasis was always on the reality of the situation. As long as you have a good start to Jiu-Jitsu, everything else is going to be much easier. The people who come to me are going to get solid fundamentals that are going to serve them in whatever focus they pursue. I don't pretend that I'm going to be everything for everyone. I have students who start with me and then they fall in love with the sport of Jiu-Jitsu, or they want to pursue MMA, and they go find someplace to train where they can focus on that. It's always been my specialty as a teacher. "My focus has always been on the self-defense aspect of Jiu-Jitsu, on the fundamentals. The following is excerpted and compiled from Richard Bresler's memoir Worth Defending: How Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Saved My Life, now out in its second edition. 10/21/2023 0 Comments Power bjt transistor![]() The region where the transistor can be operated safely is known as the safe operating area (SOA) and is bounded by I C max, V CE sus, P T and the transistors second breakdown characteristic curve. ![]() The average power limitation P T is a hyperbola described by Eq. The maximum current, voltage and power limitations can be illustrated on the l C versus V CE characteristics as depicted in Fig. If l C and V CE are assumed to be dc quantities, then at the maximum rated power P T for the transistor, we may write The average power dissipated in a BJT must be kept below a specified maximum value, to ensure that the temperature of the device remains below a maximum value. The average power, which is determined by integrating above Eq. The base current is generally much smaller than the collector current therefore, to a good approximation, the instantaneous power dissipation is The instantaneous power dissipation in a BJT is given as This effect results in positive feedback, and the current continues to rise, causing a further increase in temperature, until the semiconductor material may actually melt, creating a short-circuit between the collector and emitter and causing a permanent failure. ![]() Slight non-uniformities in current density develop local regions of increased heating that reduces the resistance of the semiconductor material, which in turn enhances the current in those regions. ![]() This voltage V CE sus is the minimum voltage necessary to sustain the transistor in breakdown.Īnother breakdown effect is known as second breakdown, which occurs in a BJT operating at high voltage and large current. All the curves tend to merge to the same collector-emitter voltage V CE once breakdown has occurred. When the transistor is biased to operate in the forward active mode, I C begins to increase significantly before the actual breakdown voltage is reached. Typical l C versus V CE characteristics are depicted in Fig. In the CE configuration, the breakdown voltage mechanism also involves the transistor gain, as well as the breakdown phenomenon in the PN junction. The maximum rated voltage in a BJT is generally associated with avalanche breakdown in the reverse-biased base-collector junction. The maximum rated collector current l Cmax may be related to the maximum current that the wires connecting the semiconductor to the external terminals can handle, the collector current at which the current gain falls below a minimum specified value, or the current that leads to the maximum power dissipation when the transistor is biased in saturation. Typical current gain-collector current characteristics for the 2N3055 power BJT at various temperatures are shown in Fig. The current gain is generally smaller in power transistors, typically in the range of 20 to 100, and may be a strong function of collector current I C and temperature. Table 26.3 compares the parameters of a general-purpose small signal BJT to those of two power BJTs. The relatively wide basewidth implies a much smaller current gain β for power transistors in comparison to that of small switching transistors, and large area device implies a large junction capacitance and hence a lower cutoff frequency for a power transistor compared to a small switching transistor. Power transistors must also be large-area devices in order to handle large currents. A relatively large base width is required to avoid punch-through breakdown. A large base-collector voltage implies a relatively large space-charge width being induced in both the collector and base regions. The base region is also much wider than normally encountered in small devices. Another N region, with a higher doping concentration, reduces collector resistance and makes contact with the external collector terminal. The primary collector region has a low-doped impurity concentration so that a large base-collector voltage can be applied without initiating breakdown. 10/21/2023 0 Comments Xampp 1.7.3 high load![]()
10/21/2023 0 Comments Sam and frodo elden ring![]() There’s at least one novel about a batman and his officer having a romantic relationship ( Look Down in Mercy by William Baxter, 1951), and many accounts of queer soldiers who found they could - while facing nightmarish conditions in the trenches - live out relationships that would have been impossible at home. Tolkien based Frodo and Sam’s relationship on ones he had seen and experienced in World War I - that between a usually upper-class officer and his batman, a usually lower-class man who served as his bodyguard, personal assistant, and constant companion. ![]() The exception is Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee - the Ring-bearer with an impossible burden, his loyal gardener, and the bond between them that ends up saving their world. But they do not read as intentionally romantic (and while fan interpretation is a diverse, wonderful thing, this essay is focused on authorial intent). These relationships are high drama powerful examples of male friendship and family. ![]() Boromir and Faramir have an intense brotherhood, and have complex feelings about the loyalty owed to their king, Aragorn. Gandalf takes on a sometimes kind, sometimes frustrated grandfatherly role to the hobbits. They fondly tease their other cousin Frodo, and talk down to working-class Sam. Merry and Pippin are cousins, and banter like cousins. There are many relationships between men in the book, most of them platonic. Revisiting the book in the last year, as someone who has been out for many years and who is deeply engaged in making and consuming queer stories, I was amazed to find a same-sex love story at the heart of the narrative. The essayist Italo Calvino defined a classic as “a book that has never finished what it has to say,” and The Lord of the Rings is certainly a classic. But for a long time I avoided it, for the same reason that I learned not to talk about the movies at school: The accusations of queerness somehow tied into a story about elves, hobbits, and looming evil. It’s written on my creative DNA as the first book I really loved. I listened to The Lord of the Rings before I knew how to read. So each Wednesday throughout the year, we'll go there and back again, examining how and why the films have endured as modern classics. 2021 marks The Lord of the Rings movies' 20th anniversary, and we couldn't imagine exploring the trilogy in just one story. 10/21/2023 0 Comments Bounty hunter armor star warsDaniel Logan reprised his role as the younger version of Fett in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, while Temuera Morrison, who also portrayed Jango in Attack of the Clones, has portrayed an adult Boba in most of his Star Wars appearances since that film, most prominently in the live-action Disney+ series The Mandalorian and its spin-off series The Book of Boba Fett.ĭuring the development of The Empire Strikes Back, Fett was originally conceived as a member of a group of white-armored Imperial " supercommandos" before the idea was scrapped in favor of a solitary bounty hunter. It’s accessible (you can get it at nearly every gas station or grocery store in America) and it’s damn tasty. Each 12-ounce can packs 200 mg of caffeine-more than any other drink on this list-and just 10 calories. Let’s start with the best healthy energy drink of the moment: Celsius Live Fit. In short, avoid artificial sweeteners like aspartame for their potential to be digestive upsetting look for monk fruit, agave, and honey, which are all generally considered safe. “As always, it is important to read the ingredient label, as sometimes stevia and monk fruit are combined with other unhealthy artificial sweeteners. Monk fruit is low-calorie and may contain antioxidants so it can be a good alternative to sugar,” she explains. “Though stevia has been generally recognized as safe, there are concerns over its impact on our overall health. If artificial sweeteners don’t cause you GI distress and you don’t have a medical condition like diabetes or high blood pressure to consider, Gately says they are safe for most people to consume in moderation. “Some people may experience GI distress, like diarrhea, after consumption,” explains Gately. Though faux sugars like stevia and sucralose (known as Splenda) have no sugar content, they also have zero nutritional value and can cause digestive issues. Then there are the sugar alternatives found in many energy drinks. The seed itself isn’t unhealthy, but it’s an NCAA-banned stimulant -it can show up in a urine test and shouldn’t be consumed by competitive college athletes, says Gately. If you’re starting your day with a quad-shot latte, reaching for an afternoon Americano, and taking down a Celsius before your men’s league basketball game, that’s overdoing it.īeyond excess caffeine and sugar, some popular “healthy” energy drinks, such as Celsius, also include guarana, whose seed s contain about four times more caffeine than coffee beans ( 1 ). The average person can safely consume around 400 mg (or less) of caffeine per day, or about four small cups of coffee. So it’s not about avoiding caffeine altogether, but rather about limiting your intake. “When you consume caffeine, it stimulates your nervous system causing your heart rate to increase, which pushes blood to your muscles and signals your liver to release glucose, providing you with energy,” adds Gately. Though some caffeine is perfectly healthy-it gives you energy and improves your ability to focus and concentrate-“some energy drinks contain high levels of caffeine that can be dangerous and negatively impact your heart, not to mention your anxiety and ability to sleep,” says registered dietitian Valerie Gately, MS, RDN, LD. Fortunately, it’s 2023, and there are plenty of healthy-ish alternatives to the sugar bombs of youth.ĭoes that mean we can consider these new-wave energy drinks to be “healthy”? Not quite.
